Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry lemonade is such a fun delicious way to cheers off the hot heat of summer. It’s sweet, tangy and refreshing. This lemonade is made without refined sugars and instead uses the natural sweetness of maple and honey.  It’s best made with fresh ripe organic strawberries rather than frozen ones.

Ingredients:

1 container organic strawberries, stems removed
5 organic lemons
8 cups water, divided
4 tablespoons pure maple syrup, to taste
3 tablespoons raw local honey, to taste

Instructions:

In a small sauce pot over medium low heat add 1 cup water, the maple syrup and honey, simmer until completely dissolved.

Pour the sweetened water to a large pitcher.

Blend the strawberries in a blender with a 1/2 cup water until smooth. Run the blended strawberries through a fine strainer, throwing away the pulp. Place the strained strawberry juice into the pitcher.

Juice the lemons, strain juice and add to pitcher. Add the remaining 7 1/2 cups of water.

Stir the contents in the pitcher with a larger wooden spoon to incorporate. Taste and adjust for sweetness. Place in fridge to chill or serve over a ice.
