This apple crisp has stood the test of time. I’ve been making it for almost eight years now. It’s not too sweet but definitely satisfies the cravings. If you want to go wild, you can add a scoop of ice cream over top! Either way you choose, I know you’ll love it!
Ingredients:
- 4 large honey crisp apples
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour or almond flour
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon refined coconut oil (you can do 4 tablespoons coconut oil and no butter if you prefer)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Prepare a small casserole dish by greasing it with coconut oil (you can also use parchment paper for easier clean up if you prefer)
- Peel the apples and slice them into 1/4-inch slices.
- In a bowl coat the apple slices in the cinnamon and salt, then pour your spiced apples into the prepared dish.
- Using the same bowl that you used to spice your apples, add the sugar, oats, flour, plant-based butter and coconut oil- mix until well combined.
- Pour this mixture evenly over the apples and bake in the oven for 60 minutes, until the apples are tender and the streusel is browned.
- Allow to cool for 20 minutes before serving. Serve by itself or with a scoop of your favorite vanilla bean ice cream.
